The Eurocup is busy underway and it seems like the international tournament has relegated club football to a back seat. For Chelsea F.C. this is especially worrying, as their new coach Antonio Conte is busy managing the Italian football team instead of preparing his future team for the upcoming season. Not to worry, the club is well on its way to sealing important new transfers, and retaining future young prospects this upcoming season.
Leonardo Bonucci
The first of Conte’s star transfers may include Italian-back Leonardo Bonucci. Conte is all too familiar with the Italian national, having coached him in both international and club play. The Metro reports that Bonucci and his representatives have agreed upon a £130,000-a-week contract with Chelsea, however have not formally bought the player from Serie A giants Juventus. Chelsea is expected to offer a whopping £32 million in hopes Juventus will be convinced to sell the 29-year-old center back.
Alvaro Morata
Another Juventus talent, Alvaro Morata is also close to signing with the London giants. Real Madrid has decided to use Morata’s buy-back clause in Morata’s contract and is certainly expecting a hefty sum for the Spanish talent. Out of the three Premier league teams – Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United – currently competing for the player, it seems that Chelsea is the only team with the financial flexibility to pay for the hefty £60million sum Madrid is asking for. Morata remains one of Europe’s finest young talents, and is even reported to be scouted by none other than Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich.
Kalidou Koulibaly (?)
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is one of Conte’s top targets to fit into Chelsea jersey this coming season. However Napoli has surprisingly refused to cooperate with the club, rejecting a whopping £19.2million offer for the player. The Serie A club wants at least £11m more for the centre-back, and will continue to reject any other offers failing to meet that sum.
Andreas Christensen
Quite the contrary to Koulibaly’s case, Chelsea is refusing to transfer young talent Andreas Christensen. According to the Daily Mail, Christensen has been on loan to the Bundesliga as part of a two year agreement with Borrusia Monchengladbach. The German side is emphatic to keep the Danish center in their ranks, however the 20-year old is seen as Chelsea’s natural replacement to John Terry. Monchengladbach’s administration however is “ready to make a record transfer [for the player].”
Paul Pogba (?)
Noise is being made around the Chelsea camp as more and more rumors are connecting the club with arguably the world’s best young player, Paul Pogba. Antonio Conte, who also coached the young talent in Juventus, could play a determining role in the chance to see Pogba fit into the “Blues” jersey this upcoming season. However no offers on behalf of the club have been made, and the french international continues to be tempted by other clubs.
